UK Radical Racing Is Back On Track

Following Motorsport UK’s confirmation that motorsport can resume from the beginning of July, we’re very happy to announce that the SR1 Cup Championship will commence at Snetterton on Saturday 4 July.

Our track partners MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) have now received the organising permit for the Snetterton 200 event. We’re excited to finally get the season underway and look forward to seeing many of you at the first event.

The full revised calendar for the 2020 season will be confirmed very soon, but we can confirm that the following UK Championship events are planned to run as originally scheduled:

  • Silverstone Radical Challenge with SR1 Cup Invitational: 15/16 August
  • Donington Park GP Radical Challenge: 12/13 September
  • Donington Park National SR1 Cup: 24 October
  • Spa-Francorchamps Radical Challenge with SR1 Cup Invitational: Re-scheduled to 6-8 November

At this point the 8 August event at Brands Hatch is looking unlikely due to a conflict with a re-scheduled BTCC event on that date. We will confirm the status of this event as soon as we receive confirmation from MSVR.

In addition to the above dates we are in daily dialogue with MSVR to re-schedule the events that were postponed in April, May and June due to the Motorsport UK suspension of motorsports activities. This is a complex scheduling challenge due to the entire UK motorsports community trying to compress a typically seven-month season into the 4-5 months available post 4 July, but we are getting good indications that the Oulton Park events will be re-scheduled and a second Snetterton event in early October may be added. This re-scheduling may mean in some instances that Radical Challenge and SR1 Cup will be in attendance at the same weekend.

We’re also working with our Continental and international partners to ensure that racing into the winter months in championships such as the Radical Nevada Cup and Gulf Radical Cup is as seamless as possible, for those looking to ‘make up for lost time’ on the track.

On-event, we will of course be carrying out a comprehensive risk assessment and implementing additional steps to protect our drivers, teams and supporting staff from the risks of COVID-19. This may mean changes to our signing-on and briefing procedure, pitstop measures, garaging arrangements and hospitality services – more details on this will be communicated to competitors in due course.

We look forward to seeing SR1 competitors at Snetterton on 4 July, and Radical Challenge teams shortly thereafter.
