Despite fierce competition and challenging conditions, Burgess's skill and determination were on full display, culminating in a stunning victory that showcased both his talent and the capabilities of the Radical RXC, supported by Tim Gray Motorsport.

Drama and Determination in Qualifying

The weekend kicked off with early morning rain showers, creating tricky conditions for the drivers. The wet Pirelli tyres slowly carved out a dry line on the track, testing the drivers' ability to adapt quickly. Richard Neary of Team Abba Racing initially set the pace in his Mercedes-AMG GT3, but Steve Burgess, returning in the Radical RXC, was hot on his heels. Burgess's impressive driving secured him a spot on the front row, setting the stage for an exciting battle.

Burgess's Moment of Glory

The second race was where Steve Burgess truly shone. Starting from the back of the grid due to a mechanical DNF in the first race, Burgess had a mountain to climb. However, his determination and the Radical RXC's performance combined to deliver a masterclass in racing.

From the very start, Burgess began his ascent through the field, moving up to second place by the end of the first lap. Only Ian Loggie stood between him and the lead. The turning point came during the pit window, where strategic timing allowed Burgess to leap ahead of the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

With Neary quickly closing the gap, Burgess had to defend his lead fiercely. His Radical RXC's power out of the corners was crucial in maintaining his position. Despite a slight mistake at Shell Oils Corner, Burgess managed to hold on, showcasing his resilience and racing acumen.

In the final lap, Burgess had a seven-tenths lead, which he maintained to cross the finish line first, securing his and the Radical RXC's first win of the 2024 season. It was a victory that not only highlighted Burgess's driving prowess but also the superior capabilities of the Radical RXC in competitive racing conditions.

““In the last few laps, Richard was gaining on me at a rapid rate of knots so I just had to park it on the apex and use the power of the car to keep him behind me. The Merc is a lot quicker through the tighter stuff so I had to use the strength of the car - which is its straight-line speed and through the high-speed corners - and make no mistakes to keep him behind me."”
