Radical Takes On Thunderhill with Turn 3 & One Motorsports

After recording its best-ever result at the NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill last year, Radical Sportscars is back to tackle the grueling Californian endurance race this weekend with teams One Motorsports and Turn 3 Motorsport. Radical locked out the front row of the starting grid in 2018, before leading more laps than any other manufacturer on its way to clinch the ESR class win with One Motorsports. However an outright victory still evades the British marque.

Both teams will again field Radical SR3s, powered by the diminutive 1340cc variant of its RPE engine, against a varied field which includes LMP3, LMP2 and GT3 machinery, iconic teams such as Flying Lizard and a combination of professional and amateur drivers. Radical Sportscars (UK) is supporting their efforts with factory engineering and media personnel.

IMSA star and 2016 Daytona 24 Hour winner (PC Class) Kenton Koch returns with One Motorsports to partner with ELMS driver John Falb, Greg Gorski and Louis Schriber in the #48 entry. Koch dominated last year’s race, with stunning stints throughout the night in an effort that kept his car in the lead for 16 of the 25 hours.

Falb is effectively returning to his roots having commenced his car racing career in Radical SR3s at Spring Mountain Country Club, winning the Radical Cup 1500 class in 2014, before heading to race in Europe where he won the 2017 ELMS LMP3 championship and currently competes in LMP2.

Schriber and Gorski are current Blue Marble Cocktails Radical Cup series drivers, with the former winning the 1340 class championship in 2018 and the latter coming fresh off a win in his first foray into endurance racing, taking victory in the PX class at the recent COTA 24H Series race.

Turn 3 Motorsports returns with an almost identical line-up to last year. The #10 car will be again piloted by Eric Wagner, Antoine Comeau and Peter Dempsey, with the only newcomer being IMSA Prototype Challenge driver Neil Alberico.

Just two weeks ago Turn 3 won the Blue Marble Cocktails Radical Cup North America 1340 and 1500 class championships (both team and driver) with Wagner and Comeau at Circuit of the Americas.

Team owner Dempsey is probably best known for his exciting open wheel career, including his thrilling four-wide Indy Lights finish and win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but the Irishman also has LMP2 experience having raced at Petit Le Mans.

Alberico is another open wheel standout who came through the Road to Indy ladder before turning his focus to the IMSA Prototype Challenge this year. The young California native won the season opener at Daytona International Speedway and finished third in the championship in his rookie year.

Qualifying for the 2019 USAF 25 Hours of Thunderhill Presented by Hawk Performance takes place Friday evening at 5:15pm Pacific. The race gets underway Saturday at 11:00am Pacific.

Live streaming will be available throughout the weekend. A general event broadcast is available via the NASA 25 Hour live stream channel, while each team will be hosting live streams from the cockpit, via links on their Facebook pages.
