The 750 Motor Club was founded in 1939, and it wasn’t long before such discussions led to the notion of competition. In 1949 the club’s first formula was formed – 750 Formula, which is the longest running championship in the world and one that is still thriving today. Over the past 85 years many different formulae have been introduced, with the focus still remaining on leading the way in terms of affordable motorsport.
A mainstay formula in the 750 Motor Club’s comprehensive portfolio of club-level circuit racing series and championships for more than two decades, Bikesports is designed for sports racing cars powered by motorbike engines, with the majority of chassis’ used in the championship typically being produced by Radical, from early Clubsports, Prosports and PR6s through to more recent SR3 models.
Founded in 1997, Radical Motorsport was initially born out of competition in a 750 Motor Club paddock, before the company’s growth has seen not only more than 2800 cars produced here in the UK - across a variety of models that have remained true to the core ethos - but also championships around the world in addition to Radical Cup UK.
As part of the partnership, Radical Motorsport will offer the overall winner of the 2024 Radical Bikesports Championship free entry into the 2025 Radical Exclusive Track Day, which will include an SR3 provided by Radical with full team support. The top three finishers in Class A and Class B will receive free entry into the 2025 Radical Exclusive Track Day.
Speaking of the partnership, Motorsport Manager at Radical Nicole Van Der Walt said: “It made sense to collaborate with the 750 Motor Club for the 2024 Radical Bikesports Championship season and beyond. It is great that we can show our support to the older Radical models that are no longer eligible to run in the Radical Cup UK but still have a lot of life left in them. An element of the championship that we think will appeal to many drivers wanting to compete but not wanting to commit to a whole weekend is the fact that qualifying and the two races are held on the same day. We are excited for the season ahead and for the future of the championship and we can’t wait to work alongside the 750 Motor Club.”
Bikesports Coordinator and 750MC Director Giles Groombridge added: “We are delighted to have Radical on board in support of the 2024 Bikesports Championship season. As one of a number of esteemed race car manufacturers that grew from initial 750 Motor Club competition before going on to worldwide success, Radical’s commitment in fostering stronger relationships with its club motorsport clientele is one that is set to work well for both parties, and most significantly – for all our valued racing members.”
For the 2024 season the Bikesports Championship will be known as the 2024 Radical Bikesports Championship as Radical Motorsport becomes the title sponsor. For the 2025 season and beyond both the 750 Motor Club and Radical Motorsport will continue to work together on how Radical Motorsport can best support the championship going forward.
