New Radical SR3 XX wins on debut

Radical’s latest iteration of the world’s best-selling racing car won in its North American racing debut at Barber Motorsports Park, home of the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. WISKO Racing’s Jim Booth piloted his new Radical SR3 XX to victory in Race 3 during Round 2 of the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America series which saw 23 Radicals take to the track, July 31-Aug 2.

“I’ve probably had more Radicals than anyone else– SR3s, SR8s and a Spyder– and the new SR3 XX is a step up. The new dash layout and the steering wheel is a real improvement. Not just having the display right in front of you, on the wheel, but the shape of the grip is better, and all the controls are right there. It’s a great car.”

Booth’s team and Virginia Radical dealer, WISKO Racing only received the XX days before the event with the car, which features AIM’s latest Power Distribution Module technology running flawlessly ‘straight out of the box.’

Seven more SR3 XX are already bound for North America in the coming weeks, with three cars being delivered to Radical Northwest based at Sonoma Raceway, two cars to Radical Canada East in Toronto, and another two cars to Team Stradale at Autobahn Country Club near Chicago.

Booth’s win in Race 3 broke the 5 race winning streak of Team Stradale’s Chris Kemp, who won all 3 races at Road America and Race 1 and 2 in the PRO 1340 class at Barber. Booth is now confident the XX will give him the edge to fight back in the PRO 1340 class championship.

Other winners this weekend included former American Le Mans Series champion Jon Field (SR8 / WISKO Racing) and reigning class champion Judd Miller (SR8 / ESSES Racing) in the Masters Class. ONE Motorsports took top honors in the highly competitive PRO 1500 class, with each of the race wins going to multiple MASTERS class champion (2014, 2016, 2017) Jesse Menczer, 2018 class champion Indy Al Miller (ONE Motorsports) as well as current CrowdStrike Mercedes GT World Challenge driver and 2017 World Challenge GTSA champion George Kurtz.

The Blue Marble Radical Cup North America season will continue at California’s iconic Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, September 11-13, where it will star alongside the Porsche Sprint Trophy USA West series. With drivers in the UK's Radical SR1 Cup plus several SR3 and PR6 racers in the independent Sports-Prototype Cup in competition at the weekend, over 60 racers were enjoying another weekend of Radical racing.
