Constable, 21 from Fleet in Hampshire, brings with him a wealth of experience that should stand him in good stead amongst the fiercely competitive field of 225bhp SR3s. Having started racing karts aged 11, Jac amassed countless race wins and podium finishes while working his way through the Mini Max, Junior Max and Senior Max classes across the UK and Europe.
Switching to sportscars in 2016, Constable contested the Protyre Ginetta GT5 Challenge en route to the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, taking the 2017 Amateur class crown before joining the Pro class ranks for 2018, where he became a regular front runner taking podiums. He also won the SP3 Class of 2018’s Dubai 24 Hours at the wheel of a GT4 Ginetta.
“Before testing the fantastic SR3 this week, I’d only previously tried the car in the snow and ice in December at Brands Hatch, but that was enough to get me hooked!” said Jac. “Radical Challenge offers a really great package, with the two endurance events and sprint race all in one weekend it’s a strong, all-rounded series.”
“I’m really looking forward to exploring the level of aero on the SR3. I’m excited about the change of car and the challenge it’s going to bring but I need to get as many miles in the car under my belt as possible. I can’t wait to get to the first round at Donington Park in a few weeks’ time.”
Constable makes the move from the Ginetta grid to Radical racing with refreshed title sponsorship from long-term partners Fix Auto UK, the global body shop network (https://fixauto.com/uk/en/).
For the Chesterfield team, Hart GT, the move marks a complete change of direction away from the TOCA paddock as the outfit fully focuses on building multi-car entries across the Radical championships.
“It’s going to be an exciting new year as we take on a different path for the team,” said Team Principal Nick Hart. “We wanted a new challenge and to move to a different style of sportscar racing, more endurance focused. The budgets, the cars and the all-round package drew us to the Radical Challenge championship. The cars are mind-blowing, the SR3 has to be one of the fastest one-make series cars around. It’s going to be a perfect fit for Jac and I fully anticipate seeing him at the sharp end and winning races as a consistent front runner.
“Moving to a completely new manufacturer and formula, we’re looking to build things up consistently and won’t deviate from our vision, but that vision includes the SR1 Cup, possibly the fastest single-make entry level series in the country. We are looking to run an SR1 Cup driver this year and plan to expand the team in both categories next year. In particular, I’m hoping to bring karters into the world of sportscar racing via SR1, then through the Radical ranks and in to the SR3 and beyond.”
Jac and Hart GT will take on their Radical Challenge debut in the opening season round at Donington Park on 6/7 April 2019.
