It's been another outstanding season for RSR’s Littlewood, starting the season with five consecutive wins. Max Van der Snel, Shane Stoney and Hamish Forrest have been race winners too, but with 11 wins from 15 races, Littlewood holds a lead of 118 points over Forrest as we arrive at Donington.
Radical Racing Rebels driver Hamish has been on the podium in all but three of this seasons races and took his win in the opening race of the Zandvoort weekend. Fellow Rebel’s driver Rachel Robertson also sits firmly in third place and is hoping to take third overall this weekend.
As well as leading the Fangio Trophy, RSR’s John Macleod is fourth overall in the Championship. He started his season with three third places at Donington. He’s had three more top sixes but his rivalry with 360 Competition’s Andy Lowe has sometimes hampered both of them.
Lowe is still fifth overall having been third at Snetterton and Zandvoort and has had time to contest the Radical Gulf and North America Cup’s too.
Valour Racing’s Jack Yang has been racing in the Gulf and North America too. But his best UK result came in the Donington opener, when he was second to Littlewood. He’s missed a few UK rounds due to his other commitments but could be an outsider for another podium this weekend.
Paul Denning is another driver who has had to miss some rounds, due to his commitment as Yamaha World Superbike Team Principal. He has had a few excursions but made the podium too with third at Snetterton and is currently third in the Fangio Trophy.
Ross Board and Matt Yard made their Radical Cup UK debuts with RJ Motorsport at Silverstone, with Yard particularly impressive as it was his car race debut too.
Newcomer and team mate to Yang at Valour Racing this weekend is Byron Crawford, a SIM racer who has also raced in Enduroka.
RJ Motorsport are running a third car for racer Ian McDonald. He has just upgraded from an SR3 RS to an XXR, having previously raced an SR1 too and is another Fangio Trophy runner.
Flame Airikkala made her Radical debut on the opening weekend of the season at Donington. Grand daughter of former RAC Rally winner Pentti, Flame followed in her mother Jo-Ann’s footsteps by starting her career in Ford Fiesta’s in the Junior Championship. She has tried her hand at rallying too this season and now races in the GB4 Championship.
There are four entries in the Team Class for the Racing Women organisation. Jorden Dolischka has raced in a couple of rounds and was sixth at Snetterton. She’s Austrian and a former TCR and Formula Renault racer. Sharing with Dolishka is Luxembourg racer Nathalie Neumann, a former Autocrosser who raced in the opening Radical rounds at Donington back in March. Swede Michell Sundnas and Johanna Thrane share the second car, with Irish duo Laura O’Connell and Hanna Celsie in the third. Swiss racer Maral Ghazarian and Hungarian Lena Galyo complete the line-up.
Qualifying is on Saturday morning at 9am for 25 minutes and it’s lights out for race one at 12.05, again over 25 minutes. The second sprint race of the weekend is away at 9.25 on Sunday morning, with the final UK race of the year for 50 minutes from 12.20.
All three races can be followed live from streaming on the Radical website.
