Marcus Littlewood clinched the Radical SR1 Cup title last time he was at Brands and will once again be the man to beat in his RSR SR3 XXR. At Donington he proved unbeatable, taking a dominant winning treble.
It will Marcus’s first race on the Grand Prix Circuit at Brands though, as last year he raced on the shorter Indy Circuit.
His closest rivals may well come from the Radical Racing Rebels duo of Hamish Forrest and Rachel Robertson, graduates of the Wera Tools Academy.
Neither Forrest nor Robertson had raced a car before their Donington debuts, but both impressed after only limited testing in their SR3 XXR’s.
After being nudged off at the first corner of race one, Forrest took two second places and currently lies second to Littlewood in the Championship.
Robertson spent much of her weekend duelling with Radical patriarch John Macleod. Experience told over youthful exuberance, with Macleod taking third in all three races for DW Racing. He now currently heads the Fangio Trophy, with third overall, while two fifths and a fourth leave Roberston fourth.
Valour Racing’s Jack Yang was second in the season opener, but after taking fourth in race two, he was forced to miss race three due to business commitments. Valour will also be fielding a last minute entry with Shane Stoney returning to the Radical Cup paddock, the 2020 season runner up is currently leading the Radical Club Challenge championship in his own PR6 and will be renting a new SR3 XXR for this weekend.
360 Competition’s Andy Lowe had a mixed weekend at Donington. He is fifth in the points and second in the Fangio Trophy, with a best result so far of fourth in the Donington opener.
Alex Fisher was a UK Racing debutant at Donington, having had one previous Radical race in North America. His DW Racing car showed steady progress through the opening weekend, ending with a sixth place.
DW Racing’s John Davis and 360 Competition’s Wesley Fongenie make their seasonal debuts at Brands Hatch. But Davis was out last weekend in the 750MC Radical Club Challenge at Silverstone, taking seventh in class in his two races.
Qualifying in on Saturday morning for 25 minutes from 9.30, with race one at 13.00 again for 25 minutes.
The second sprint race is lights out at 11.40 on Sunday morning, with the final 50 minute enduro starting at 15.45 to concluded the weekend.
